"THE
HOUSE WITH THE ROSE "

The painter Chrisoula Zogia was born in Volos in 1914,
and many of her paintings - specially the first ones like
designs and portraits- had the influence of her teachers
Nikita Grispo and Spiro Vikato.
The Red House with The
Rose and the external wall prints, on the corner of Vlahava
and A.Gazi streets in Volos, is a characteristic sample of the artistic mental
constitution of the painter. After she died and the opening of her testament
in 1992, one of her last wish and order was the donation of the building to
the Municipality Of Volos to use it as a museum- picture
gallery and also be a cultural legacy for the next generations.
As she wrote on her last poem "I believe that
beauty on the body may lost, on the art never" and according with an autograph
in her testament saying "The present concerns the conservation and project of
my work, where hiding my Beautiful Soul".

The Administrative Border of Volos in co-operation with the Artistic Organization
of Volos, in 1993, took the administration part of the building. The conservation
and formation of the house into picture gallery, according with the last instructions
of the painter as concerns the colors and the furniture, undertake the painter
Michael Vamvakaris as a member of the Artistic Organization of Volos.
The opening
on the building in 10/3/1994 combines with the painting exhibition "The House
with The Rose".

The works are about 250 items and are mostly oil graphs with subjects like "dead
nature", portraits, local and Pelion houses with bloom yards, internal of the
houses, internal and external of catholic and other churches where are mostly
printed on the side ways of the stairs, draws made by ink and pencil. Special
care needed her work "Rose" an oil graph on moving metal, "Conscience of Conscienceless
in Conscience" wall graph on plaster frame, "Prints of Hands" a wall print on
the internal area of the stairs made by the workers of the building, doodle
painting compositions, two portraits of the painter made by her teacher Nikita
Grispo, etc. |

The intense personality of Chrisoula Zogia is marked on all over the building.
In the closet of her bedroom, all her personal stuffs- like perukes, hats, dresses,
shoes - remains there, in the kitchen on the shelves drawing bottles according
her mood, in the toilette the drawings with the naked figures of a man and a
woman on the closet sides where there you see her dislike for men. In her office
we about to see among all the others and many distinguishes and excellencies
from the local and foreign area, where we can see her rich travel experience
and sense for sociality against her intense introversion. Even the doors are
printed according her personal taste.

| The Municipal Centre of History
and Validation of Volos took
the management of the museum while many of the works lays on the
National Picture Gallery. The public may visit the house in the
morning hours 10:00pm - 13:00am every Sunday, free entrance. No
pictures allowed because the law about the protection of the mental
rights. |
